About Jumeirah

Jumeirah means “beautiful” in Arabic, and it essentially consists of a residential section along the coast that is filled both large, affluent housing and smaller town houses, though both are generally expensive, as the area is one of the priciest in Dubai to live in.

Though it is a residential area, it is still popular with tourists due to its beaches and it contains several landmarks, such as the Jumeirah Mosque, which provides tours for non-Muslims, among the only mosques in the United Arab Emirates that does so. The 2009 FIFA World Cup took place in Jumeirah.
